Well, anyone can see that the firestorm is leaning to the right.

Maybe that is what someone sees, but upon closer examination it is a partial view of a volcanic cone at very close range, approximately 100 feet. The vertical orientation is indicated by the volcanic bombs shooting straight up at the center. The shape of the tube and orifice determine the southward vector of the eruption.

OK, instead of "leaning" to the right, I mean "southward vectoring" to the right.

"To the right" obviously depends on where you stand. In science, as in conservative politics, one uses cardinal direction rather than that perceived of the moment.
